Annette Forrester has been a Social Work Practitioner since 2009. Annette came to the practice as she has a passion for caring, supporting families in need and help with bringing about good outcomes for both children and their families.
Annette has developed SWIFFF based on her years of experience working with children and their families. During this time, the Practitioner has identified a number of gaps in the service delivery to not only the families with whom she has worked but also having had feedback from her colleagues over the years. These gaps also highlights gaps also in the Practitioner’s own practice and these gaps have been reflected upon geared to bring about even better outcomes for the person who come to our service for support in their time of need.
SWIFFF is born out of pain, hurt and suffering both as a young lady and as an adult. At the same time, there are also stories of happiness and high emotions as the Practitioner uses all experiences to connect with all persons work is being carried out with. The Practitioner is aware that various experiences can be a difficult, oppressive and an heart breaking for all involved if the right support is not in place. Annette believes that a caring profession should care. The Practitioner also believes that the family’s strengths should be highlighted whilst working closely with them to understand the areas of risk, difficulties and concerns. The service offered aims to meet the assessed area of need and put the support in place to meet the identified need in the family.
As an Experienced Practitioner, Annette believes that a family who makes and sustains positive changes will do so over time if they are encouraged to do so in an empowering, kind, caring and nurturing way.
Here at SWIFFF, We aim to safeguard, support, build confidence and courage. William Shakespeare said, “our doubt is the enemy that makes us lose the good we could have won by fearing to attempt”.
SWIFFF, therefore, encourages holistic collaborative and partnership work with children on a one-to-one basis, in small groups with siblings, in a small group with children and parents/caregivers, and in sessions for parents/caregivers. Family sessions are tailored to support and encourage more positive family relationships.
SWIFFF also works closely with other agencies to build positive supportive networks whilst promoting family safety and security emotionally and physically.
Annette Forrester, the developer of SWIFFF, understands difficulties on varying levels, but has enabled Michell C. Clark’s quote to encourage us to “be the person who still tries after FAILURE, after FRUSTRATION, after DISAPPOINTMENT; after EXHAUSTION; after heart ache… Be the person who MUSTERS the courage to believe that a new attempt can MANIFEST a new outcome. Be the person who still TRIES”.
SWIFFF, a passion for caring, love is lovely… Smile.
